With the number of landfills decreasing annually since 1971, more emphasis, especially in “smaller markets”, has been placed on transfer stations. These facilities, as their name suggest, are simply a permitted facility that accepts solid waste, places the waste into large walking floor trailers and transport to a landfill many miles away.

The Pemiscot County Transfer Station is operated by ECM of Ridgely, LLC.  ECM has contracted with Rett Express to ship The Pemiscot County Transfer Station Waste to the ECM landfill in Obion, TN.
